  1. For the first day just bring a pen/pencil, some paper, your calculator (cause some teachers will do a worksheet in math classes to see what level you're on) and a print out of your schedule.

Usually all the teachers do is introduce themselves, go over the syllabus and tell you what exactly you need for class (sometimes the recommended books that the bookstore told you to get isn't what the teacher actually requires).  But I would definitely buy them all and then return them if the teacher tells you that you don't need them (because then you can get the cheaper used price instead of paying waayy too much for new).

The first day (especially for VERY first day in college) is just an orientation to each class.  Hope this helps!  Good luck

  2. Well, my classes jumped right in. So, notebook and pen/pencil whatever you like better. Also, the books. That's all ive ever brought to class *for your statistics class i'd bring your fancy TI-83 calculator or what not*.  If you have a webpage from your school account where you can long in-- our's is called WEBCT-- and the teachers can e-mail you and post the syllabus and other homework and other important information-- I would check that. If you don't know. I would call either the library or someone in the advising center and they can tell you if they have something like this or not.

  3. a rested body, an open mind, and a notebook.
