Question:

HELP!!! Where can I find a moderately priced wedding dress?!

I am having a casual wedding at a private residence, so I don't want to spend thousands on some fancy dress. I want a semi- casual, but still formal dress in the $300 range. Even if it's a white prom dress that would be fine. But I am relatively new to the Denver area and have no idea where to find either a non expensive bridal shop or a prom dress store or just a formal attire store. Can somebody please help me??!!!

  1. The websites for JC Penney and Target have wedding dresses that are in the $100 to $200 range.  I have also seen stores that specialize in prom type dresses at the malls I have been to, but the name of the particular store differs from place to place.  There may also be a few options of prom type dresses at department stores like JCPenney if you go into the stores.

  2. JCrew and Target both have some nice, but less Cinderella-ish, wedding dresses. JCrew's line is both at the $300-ish level and at the $1K+ level.  Target dresses are all lower priced; some brides even bought one as a "backup" in case something happened to their main dress.

Also, check craigslist.  http://www.craigslist.org. My fiancee was always browsing and found great decorations there.  I hear there are always LOTS of dresses and rings available.

My fiancee also found her dress at David's.  Even though she didn't expect such a chain to have what she was looking for, they did.  And for less than $400. This may be too "bridal-ey" and not semi-casual enough, but it's worth a shot!

  3. Do you have the Yellow Pages Directory in Denver?

Also....have you considered renting a gown?....there are services that do that very thing.

    Good luck!   Happy Wedding Day!

  4. Try davids bridal you can buy online to they are having a huge sale!

  5. Check your local Yellowpages. You can get familiar with the area while shopping for your dress ( =

Macy's and Lord & Taylor have formal wear and you should have one at your local mall.

    Good luck!

  6. The Salvation Army! Hear me out for a moment before you say this is tasteless and low class. They often get beautifully dry cleaned wedding dresses that have been donated. My local Salvation Army in our city often show cases the wedding dresses in May.  Call around to your cities Salvation Army to find out more details. When you find that special dress have it fitted at a local seamstress. This will lower the cost compared to a bridal shop. When it's all said and done no will ever know the difference.
