Ok so i'm changing the belts for my car and i finish on belt so i move to the other but i find that the adjusting bolt is not there!!! Now i need to find a replacement. This is a 2002 Honda Civic. The adjusting bolts are like a wing nut. now i'm sure any bolt will do the job but i have nothing to compare it to so i don't know what bolt to buy. Any idea where i could find the oem adjusting bolt or any sugestions on how i should go about finding a new bolt? Thank you!!

  1.   don't go to the dealer, they will not sell u a bolt. they will however sell u a kit, and that will run u close to $200.00. but if u find a dealer that will then thats even better. i had this experience with a ford taurus. so good luck.

  2. If the dealer doesn't have it, get one from the salvage yard- they probably won't even charge you for it. Before you totally give up, look under the engine on the body frame, or gravel shield . Stuff falls down there. Next time, get a big magnet, like off an old speaker and stick it to the firewall so you can put bolts there while you work and they won't fall down lost. The magnet will never fall off.

At the very worst you can go to the dealer.  They will have the manual and you can point it out in the book.

they will be over priced ($5 to $10 for 1 stupid bolt) but at least you get the one that fits.

Otherwise go to home depot and get a bolt and try few different size.  Bolts for belts don't need to be hardened bolts

    Good Luck...

  4. go to the dealer for this one, many autoparts stores dont carry stuff like this some could possibly order, but your best bet is to just order one from your nearest honda dealership

  5. If I recall correctly, the threads on that are 8mm x 1.25. I seriously doubt you will be able to find a bolt as long as the one you are talking about. I'd take a quick ride to the Honda dealer as that is the only place you will get it, other than a junk yard. It's probably a whole 5 bucks from the dealer.
