Question:

HELP! Why are all of my guppy fries female?

I have about 20 fries. They are about a month old or so and I see they are all FEMALES!!! Odd that there doesn't appear to be a single male! How could this be? I mean, I understand that there may be many more females than males and I don't mind too much about the sexes. But I mean there should be at least one male in a batch like that... Is is the temperature or the fish or just bad luck???

  1. give it another month and some may change, i know my endlers (a cousin of the guppies) have surprised me a few times with their spawns.

temperature can also play a part in determining s*x, if it's cooler you're more likely to get females, a temperature around 78-80F is more likely to mean more males.
