It froze a couple of times before (to the point where i could do nothing). I scanned my comp in safemode, but it could not really find anything harmful. Right now, i am in regular mode. What is causing my computer to freeze? Is it about to crash?

  1. Follow the instruction on the link below to clean your computer

10 easy step virus and spyware removal using free software

  2. what are you scanning it with? spyware often times will not be picked up by antivirus scanners. as spyware runs amuck, it can cause major havoc. i recommend spybot or adaware to scan your system...

also, might be an overheating issue? if it's randomly freezing...but NOT slow, check to see that it's clean... could be the internals just going out..memory issues. myriad of reasons.

  3. Hi: Scan your system in regular mode ( not safe mode). Update your os regularly. Defrag your hd. Close programs you don't use. Run MRT.EXE to check for common viruses. If it freezes in certain wedsites (like Yahoo answers) restart your browser. Get a good firewall, anti virus, anti spywear software. Is your compute out-of-date get a new one..  Have a good day.

  4. When your computer starts to run slow right click the task bar (Or hit CTRL/ALT/DEL ) go to task manager and click on the performance tab. You will see from here if your CPU usage is high. If it is click on the processes tab and check from here what has the most Memory usage.

You'll probably find your have one or two pieces of software running that is hogging your memory causing it to run slow. If you are running many processes at once you might need to rethink your memory options and upgrade or just run less programs together. Often people have so many pieces of software set to run when windows starts up that it causes the PC to run slow. If this is the case change the settings on non essential software to only run when you want them to.

Having said that it might be something completely different but I often find this to be the case with slow running computers.
