  1. while this may not entirely be the correct subject I thought it would be insightful to this

"I shouldn't get high to come up with ideas. I should come up with ideas and then get high to reward myself!"

  2. Simple answer, just decide to do it, and do it.

Worked for my son, who completed 3 hours of school this morning...he completed it, and then got to go out and do things all afternoon.  (He chooses to do school on Saturdays so he can get a day off during the week).  It was nice outside, and he wanted to go hang out with friends, but he just plain decided to do it, and did it.  (An algebra test he didn't want to take was included.)

I know it sounds snarky - it's not - and simple - it is - but it works.  Kinda like Nike...just do it :)

  3. First off, stop saying you can't.

    You can do this.

Secondly, decide what your priorities are...to have a lazy Summer or to have a profitable one.

Next, schedule fun time and study time.

And don't forget - you can study outside on beautiful days.

    All the best.

  4. Why don't you just take your books and go study outside then?!? That's what I do....pretty much everyday. There's no rule that says it only counts if you do it indoors at the table, *smile*. You CAN do your studying at the beach, in the park, in your yard...I do much of my learning whilst sitting up a tree.

Oh and the more you tell yourself that you 'can't' do something, the less you'll be able to do it. You should always tell yourself what you can do; saying you can't just sets you up in a self fulfilling prophecy.

  5. How hot is it?  Hot enough to want to be outside?  Then study outside.  Enjoy a day at the beach or something while studying.

Or is it too hot to be outside?  Find somewhere cool to study, like the air conditioned library.  Or promise yourself that after a certain amount of study, you'll let yourself go for a dip in a pool or something.

As for the "I can't" bit:  You can if you decide it is important enough to.  If there's some math that you've temporarily forgotten and you don't study it now, you'll end up in a math class doing more boring stuff all year; so you have to decide which is more important--enjoying the summer or having a less boring math class all year.

Or skip the studying, enjoy the summer, and go back on the strength of what you really know already.  You may have a more boring math class, but you'll get a better grounding in the basics which might help you more in the long run.

You'll have to decide which plan sounds better to you....

  6. Slow down and relax! I have recently gone back to school too. AND, I KNOW how hard it is!! The best thing is to do is take a little bit of time every day to study. Rome wasn't built in a day. We older, non-traditional students, can better find that hour everyday to study because we normally will get a study partner. You also have your spouse to help support you too.

Case in point, I'm taking precalculus @ GSWSU this summer along with three other classes. We home school  our five kids also. There are plenty of days after I have just went to school for 5 hours - worked for 10 -  that I don't want to study. So I read a few pages and put the book down. Get a little sleep and do it all over again until my of day. Right now, I have a paper due Monday and a quiz Monday and two finals on Wednesday; but, I'm answering your question : -O.

Just remember this! There is a very good reason you went back to school. Mine is to get off of shift work and get into an office where I can watch my kids finish growing up. Keep the faith and get an accountability partner to call and study with you.

IT WILL MAKE ALL OF THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD!!!

    Good Luck and God Bless!!!
