HELP! how can i relax?i have been injured for a large part of the summer and today i have to run 5 miles 2day?

i have been injured for a large part of the summer and today i have to run 5 miles 2day!!!! i hav eronly run around 4 miles over teh course of 3 weeks. HELP! how can i rleax and get ready to die in runnign 5 miles 2day? HELP

  1. just try your best and don't worry if you look slow or week compared to the other people running.


  2. Just try to start off slow and not injure yourself more. If you don't have to run, then don't. If you do, then do your best not to make your injury any worse. Sounds like you have run in the past so you should have the confidence to finish 5 miles. Usually the first mile or so you will start off feeling stiff, but once you get close to mile 3 you should begin to loosen up and smooth into miles 4 and 5. Make sure you get a good stretch before hand, this will help loosen you up and relieve some tension. I would suggest a good 15-20 min stretch especially if youhaven'tt ran lately.

    After you run, make sure you work in some ice. You are going to be sore. Ice bags where it hurts or try an ice bath. After a couple days use a heat pad to increase blood flow to the area. Hope that helps and good luck.
