  1. What level is the course you're doing? If it's level three you probably only need to say that you encourage staff to think about how activities went, or how they dealt with a situation, say with a parent or over a child's behaviour. To model this, I would suggest that you ask for feedback from other members of staff about things you have done yourself and use that as a basis for dicsussion.

You could set up some sort of peer observation system or use staff appraisals. If you're doing a higher level course (FD or BA) then you might want to look at Kolb's reflective cycle, which is in plenty of text books. Also there's a good section on feedback in a brilliant book called 'Change Your life with NLP' by Lyndsey Agness.

    Hope that helps!

  2. In my setting we do the following:

-staff complete self-evaluation end of every term.

-manager arranges supervision-this is where the staff meets with the manager to discuss the evaluation form and where to go from there eg: update training plan, arrange in house training, support etc depending on where improvement is needed.

-Peer Observation-staff anonomously fill out a checklist style sheet once a week. The staff member picks another member and observes them discreetly during the session can be when they ar reading to a child, playing at the sand. End of the week peer observations are given out so staff can see how they are percieved their actions and build on this.

    Also:

On planning sheets there should be an evaluation section at the end for staff to review how their activity went and where it could be improved next time.

End of the week as a staff group look back at the weeks notes and reflect on its up and downs...then discuss how this can be improved or carried over in the next week.

Arrange a staff meeting where you can discuss with staff the benefit of review and reflection....ask them why they think we should do it-this get them involved. Then talk about different way you'll be reflecting in the future. This way all staff are aware of what is happening and why.

  3. i  am doing level 4 myself with the OU.!

i think being reflective is all about looking back - what did i do? what did i not do? what worked? what didnt work? how can we improve on this? what can we change?

do lots of observations, make video tapes, transcripts etc to help you.  hold regular meetings, make spidergrams when planning etc etc.

    good luck!
