HELP! i am 16 and have a part time job but would really like to earn more money... any ideas??

Question

I work in a shop and get £3.70 an hour and i usually do about 6-18 hours a week. However i would really like some other ideas to earn some money that i can do from home eg making certain things and selling them (i am quite creative and make cards and jewelry etc). Or even if anyone could recomend websites or anything that you can earn money on that are actually good please can you! :)

I would recommend you move forward with your card idea.  Find a theme to your cards and go forward with them.  If you can find something that Hallmark (big American card company, not sure if they are in England) likes, they will buy the rights to it.  The other option is to create your own and sell them to local card shops.

Do market research.  Find a hole in the card market.  You need to ask yourself: "Who IS NOT being related to with these cards."  If you can find a funny/interesting way to reach out to those people, you have yourself a market.

Play up the fact that you are a "kid."  No one dislikes a success story involving the creative youth.  Even if you can't find a creative niche, do something else to differentiate yourself.  Make sure your cards are environmentally friendly, or deliver them locally only to create a demand.  

Read a couple websites on marketing.  Its about getting eyeballs on your product.  The more people that see it means a higher likelihood of something good happening for you in terms of sales.
