  1. Metro North does not go up there.  Take Amtrak.

  2. You can take Amtrak from Penn Station to Buffalo.   Penn is NYP and Buffalo is BUF on the station codes.  It is an 8 hour trip and there is a train leaving at 7:15 am.

  3. You mean the theme park, near Buffalo?  No, Metro North does not go anywhere near it.

  4. To get to the Buffalo area by train, you'll have to take Amtrak.  Are you aware that it's more than a seven hour train trip from Manhattan to the Buffalo area?  Also that you're looking at a round-trip fare of about $200, plus whatever cost there is in getting from Buffalo to Darien Lake?

Amtrak leaves from Penn Station in Manhattan.  There are about four trains each day that go to the Buffalo area.

    Update

You're right in thinking that trains often get sold out.  Your other options are flying or taking the bus.
