i just got my hamster like 3 days ago from my aunt. when i got him he was active and seemingly healthy and he slept during the day and played at night. this morning and tonight i noticed that he has been randomly falling asleep and it looks like he is dead, or unconscious... but then i tap the cage and he looks seemingly fine. the other thing is that he hs been walking weird and i am getting worried about the little guy. and it seems that he hasn't been drinking very much water... idk if i am being paranoid but idk i am just worried.

if it helps here is some info...

he is 3 months old

he is a male

he is a Syrian panda hamster

and he is average weight.

  1. well a few years ago i had a hamster just like yours now i would randomly just stop moveing or fall asleep and i had the same problem.

make sure it gets out of the cage alot i mean get it a hamster ball it can roll around in and just pet it more the one i had would be really shy and just freeze up around strangers, and just people in general.

if the problem persists take it to a vet mine died about three years ago

from wet tail disease it is a hamster disease that gives the hamster days to live i hope your hamster feels better and get it to a vet asap

  2. Let him rest, maybe take him to a vet.

  3. first you should check with your aunt if this is what he was like before you got him because if it is abnormal he could be ill.

he could be dehydrated. but hamsters are nocturnal - so they sleep in the day and are awake at night. also they sleep or doze with their eyes open so he could just be sleeping.

if he isnt drinking much then a small bowl/dish is the best thing for him to drink from as it is the easiest. but remember he is only small so he wont drink much!

i hope that helps but if you are still worried in a couple of days then take him to the vet!

btw ignore the first answer - just idiocy
