  1. if your hamster has babies you dont do anything to keep them alive. the mother will keep them alive.also do not touch or clean the cage for at least two weeks, it will be smelly but you dont wanna startle them. if a mother hamster gets scared she will pick the babies up and put them in her pouch,if she stays scared she may keep them in there and suffocate them by accident. so it is very important to never touch and just watch them til they get a lil older. my hamster had 13 in one litter, she was a great mother. they stay preggers for about 28-31 days. when the babies get older they should be taken out at about 4 weeks. they will start to breed shortly after so it important to arrange homes for them all. try calling a local pet store.the babies are very active after a few days and start to stray from the nest. the mother will put them in her mouth and drag them back to the nest, it is funny to see. email if you wanna pics. i have a few of the babies at diff stages in there life. i dont know what the spots are but you should keep  themall seperated as the males will eat the babies.

  2. I don't think that a little fight will effect their pregnancy. I do think that you should separate them immediately. They should heal quickly, as hamsters have relatively good immune systems.

Don't ever put them together again. You won't really see if the hamster is pregnant until about 2-3 days before the delivery!

Good luck with the possible litter.

  3. Aren't you the same one who emailed me too. Here are the answers to your questions -

The gestation period for dwarf hamsters is 18-21 days from the mating day.

It is very difficult to tell if a hamster is pregnant. The reason being her size won't increase until the last 4 days before delivery. Some clues include when she may be building a bigger nest, hoarding a lot of food in the nest, will eat and drink water more than usual and sleep a lot more if she is pregnant. In the last 4 days before delivery, she will look big in the belly and teats would be prominent.

In case of dwarf hamsters, the female hamster might have big fights with the male dwarf if he is in the same cage and and it is wise to separate them since they can mate again after the female has delivered and another litter in 18 days is not good for the female hamster’s health.

Whether she is pregnant or not, treat her as though she is pregnant for the next 25 days. Make sure you give her lots of clean food and water and supplement her protein intake by giving her bits of hard boiled egg whites, bits of unsalted cheese and little quantities of skimmed milk. Also supplement her regular food with pieces of fresh vegetables like carrots. Throw away any stale food after a day. Try to put the cage in an area where she has the least disturbance from noises and activities.

Read up on the internet on how to handle pregnant hamsters and hamster babies so that if she delivers a litter, you would be confident about how to handle the situation.

As regarding the fight, keep a close watch to ensure that the wounds do not get infected. Otherwise you would have to take them to a vet for treatment. Also separate the three hamsters since you do not want Sammy to get stressed out again during the pregnancy and I would also advise you not to keep the other female and male together since there is chance of mating and breeding is best left to the professionals.
