HELP! important question!?

I have to write an essay about a current event to get into an advanced class. I has to be linked to history. Doesn't matter what kind of history. Can you please give me a topic to write about. This is very important to me and i can't think of a current event that's linked to history.

hmmm  there is a black man running for president and gaining momentum to be the lead of his party.  less than two hundred years ago, the black man in america was a slave.  is that not a current event that is linked to history

Here is my advice, think of a research question to ask yourself. For example, what historical factors caused the United States to go to war with Iraq or on terror. How is the war on terror different from other wars in the past? How has previous wars that the United States have been involved in effect society and government policy regarding the current war on terror?

These were just some examples of questions that your research paper could seek to answer, but the best research, in my opinion starts with a good question. Just ask a question about an event that is going on today and try to answer that question.

a good one would be what americas economy was like in the 1830's and you could compare to americas economy now. i read something about the other day.. it would be pretty interesting?

Almost any legitimate question you ask about current events of the day has a link of some kind to history.  Almost everything that is current is a repeat of some kind.  If you want to be successful with this essay, then find a current event that interests you.  First, ask a question about a topic that you can really get into, and do all of the research you can.  The rest should fall into place.
