i have recently bought the sims 2 double deluxe, which came with the sims 2, sims 2 nightlife ans sims 2 celebration stuff. my game keeps freezing randomly. I make sure nothing is running in the background but it still freezes. My laptop screen has to stretch the game as my laptop is wide screen as it is fairly new. some times it crashes and restarts it self "to prevent harm of your computer". then other times the game just shuts downs but not the laptop as it says something like "D3drrrr_error" from direct 3D but i have run all the tests and everything is working fine! i am really confused and stuck some one help me please!!!!

my laptop is windows XP

  1. What is your graphics card? Your card must support Hardware Acceleration and Hardware T&L (Transform & Lighting). I read that the D3DERR_INVALIDCALL error is sometimes caused by an issue with certain integrated Intel cards. There are relatively few cards that meet the requirements for Celebration Stuff: ATI Radeon 8500 or greater; Nvidia GeForce2 GTS or greater.

  2. I can't run the Sims 2 on my laptop and the very simple reason is that it's so processor intensive, the laptop over heats and crashes.

The D3D error is also a possibility and suggests the graphics card isn't up to scratch.

Make sure you have the latest version of DirectX on your machine as well as the latest video card drivers for your laptop.

  3. It's an intensive resources program to run. Does your laptop have the specifications to run it?

If it doesn't meet the minimum ones required on the side of the box, then you will run into problems [some serious] trying to play it.
