I did weed on and off last year. I quit for nearly months at a time but I always fell back into it. I can't get it out of my head. After 3 months of nearly heavy usage I've quit. And i hope this time its for good. I've been clean for a week. I need help. I can't eat anything without throwing up, I have a really hard time sleeping (i havent slept for 3 days) and I'm all shaky and feel dizzy alot. Everyone says weed/pot/marijuana isn't addictive and doesn't cause withdrawal! They're wrong. What can I do :/

  1. Janelle is right. Whatever is going on with you does not have to do with weed. As someone who smoked 10 years heavily and then quit because they started drug testing at work, I can tell you there are zero withdrawals.  The throwing up, the dizziness, is something else the weed has been masking. See a dr.

  2. Weed ISN'T addictive and DOESN'T cause withdrawal.  What this means is that you've got something else going on with you that marijuana was "treating".  I think that you've got depression/anxiety, and that you discovered on your own that marijuana helps alleviate anxiety.  Now that you are not smoking any more, the anxiety is starting to overwhelm you again.  Lack of sleep is a big symptom of depression, and inability to keep food down is a symptom of anxiety.  And of course, not sleeping or eating will make you feel shaky and dizzy.

So what you need to do is treat the root problem behind all this.  Go to a psychiatrist and get started on some anti-anxiety meds, and possibly some antidepressants, depending what he sees going on with you.  I don't know if you're depressed, but I'm fairly convinced that you have anxiety and need meds for that.

  3. You might try NA or AA.  Those are the most successful treatments available.

  4. your case sounds horrible, but i'm going to have to agree with the other answerers. weed isn't *physically* addictive, speaking from someone who used to smoke at least 5 times a week, multiple times a day, for a year. i quit cold turkey because it just became such a bore, and i haven't experienced any withdrawal symptoms. Besides, you've been clean only a week, it will get easier, trust me.

i know it might be the last thing you want to do, but maybe you should go see a doctor? maybe don't tell her about the weed, but describe to her the symptoms you've been describing to us.

    Seriously though, good luck!
