HELP! my baby cokatiel is bleeding from its tail feathers?

and the parents are eating the blood or pecking at it... are they trying to kill it?

  1. Take the baby out of the cage with the parents.  I adopted a 9 week old cockatiel yesterday that had been abused by its parents and is crippled for life because of it.  

    You will need to check the bleeding to make it stops.  Take a damp cloth and clean the blood away from the bird, then you can use something as simple as cornstarch to stem the bleeding but you need to get the bleeding stopped.  DO NOT put the baby back with the parents.


  2. Yes they are trying to kill it, get it or the male out of the cage.  the male is wanting to breed again and will attack the baby and kill it. The female will join in on the attack if the baby is old enough.

  3. Yes, separate the little bird immeddiately.  Babies should not remain in the same cage after they begin to feather

  4. They are trying to eat it.  :(
