HELP: my girlfriend was raped by a family friend...?

Last year a family friend of my girlfriend did everything short of raping her. She said no, and he put his p***s in her mouth and took off her pants. They were both 15 at the time. We are 16 now and i was the first person she revealed this too after keeping it secret for a year. We told her parents, but they don't know what to do.

I need someone to give me some direction about filing charges and how to go forward with this.

  1. .   You go to the City Prosecutors Office and fill out a complaint.  They do the rest.

  2. I would contact the police, but at the same time, they will wonder why it took so long to come forward.  THe other ppl are saying that she may just want to start drama, and she may just be trying to get attention, but if she told her parents, then I dont see that being the reason.  Although, if the parents werent on the phone with the police that instant, im not sure you can say too much for them.  I dont want to seem like i take rape or sexual abuse/misconduct lightly, because i dont, but I would have ther contact the police and make sure she is ready to relive it to the police, to the courts etc.

  3. Your Girl needs to get some serious counseling.  To file charges after a year would just be the biggest nightmare and heartache to go through (Sad to say) She would be the victim. She would be drug through the slutter house. The Police cant do anything but take a statement.  (And sad to say that will get lost)  Sorry all you police out there.  I see you smiling!   A good counselor for battered women, that would be the place to seek help.  They will make sure it gets documented and reported to the Prosecuter, who knows, maybe this boy has been reported before. Do Incourage your Girl to talk to a counselor.

  4. contact the police

  5. You better get your facts right,Brown may have a point

  6. In all honesty I don't know how much you are going to be able to do legally. Right now your most important thing is to be there to support and help your girlfriend. Maybe talking to her about what she wants to do is best. After all, legal action should be up to her and her parents. You might suggest contacting an attorney or even the local police department that way they can see what can be done.

  7. The best thing to do is go to the Police Dept. Make sure her parents come with her and explain to the Police what has happend. They are gonna ask stuff like why did you wait so long? But dont wait the longer the harder it will be to prove. People get away with this is because their victims are scared to seek help. Well I hope this helped you and good luck.
