  1. Lock up the cats for a while. Then put out some food so the poor thing doesnt starve and put out some water. You could then get some live traps or put a video camera by the food at night to see if it comes.

  2. put treats out!

  3. I'd get a small box or his house and put his bowl near it. Hopefully the smell will entice him and then he'll go to sleep in his home!

  4. Well I lost my hammie once and I put his cage on the floor andit took a long time for me to find him sitting in his cage. This is what to do, get buckets, and ramps tape ramps on the bucket andbut bedding, and fav food in em and make sure the hammie cant get out of the bucket, works like a charm because it will want to sleep in bedding and needs to eat and put a towel under the door to make sure she stays in one room.Check every hour or two. When you find her put her in her cage and if you can put a rock over the cage door. Every time she goes in her ball tape the sides on too! Hope I helped!

  5. dont worry, my cat is also nice and would never eat my hammy.

at night you should keep the cat out while hes escaped and pout food out.  have the lights out and watch for a while.

  6. However nice cats are, their natural instincts would definitely get better of them. Is there a place you can put your cats securely until you find out where your hamster is? Then definitely put them there so that they can do no danger to your hamster.

    Give this a try -

If you still have some of the old bedding with the smell of the hamster in them, put some of it in a tray along with a few pieces of the hamster's p**p on the floor of the place closest to where your hammie escaped.

Spread some of his favourite treats and hamster food on the bedding. Some treats can include sunflower seeds, cheese, rice krispies or corn flakes.

The hamster, if nearby, would definitely come back since the scent of his bedding and p**p is too strong for him to resist.

Stay watch over the tray very quietly in the night when hamster would be most active. The only problem is you might have to lose your sleep at night for 1 or 2 nights due to standing watch over the tray.

I hope you find your hammie soon! All the best!

  7. I lost my hamster once too and I thought she had been eaten, but I found her hiding 2 weeks later. When rodents escape they are usually very scarred and will hide in dark corners, nooks, and crannies. I found my hamster hiding under the stove chewing on some wires. You should try and lure it back to his house or small "hotels" that you set up around the house that have a bit of they're favorite treat and some bedding. Make sure they are in dark quiet places, and who knows maybe hammie will come home. And even though your cats may seem nice make sure to check around for a half eaten hammie too. You never know. My dog ate one of my hamsters after it escaped. (And she was a nice dog, she used to play with the hamsters and let them crawl on her and everything. I think she just wanted to play with it and got a little rough...) All I ever found of it was half a body. However that is the only one of the many hammie escapes I have had that i lost. i always found the others just by keeping a sharp eye out. and make sure that when you do find your hammie that you hamster proof the cage because hamsters are known to be great escape artists. Good luck in your search.

  8. well until you find your hammy, keep an eye on your cats, they can help you find the hammys location,if they are hovering and circling a certain spot then your hammy is likely to be there and you can look and also if they are focused and staring.then look :)

  9. This happened to my friend's dwarf hamster too...it didn't end good...her cats were very very nice and friendly and she thought that they wouldn't hurt it...I'm sorry to say that it's a cats natural instinct to hunt...I heard if you put food in a bucket and then like make a ramp it will go in the bucket and you can capture it back...i don't think it would hurt to put food out. Put it in a central place in your home so you can see when it comes back...good luck!
