both of my iguanas are outside now and they have a huge cage but they are rubbing their noses on the wire and they have already worn their noses down about 2 centimeters, whenever i go out there their noses are full of blood from rubbing on the metal wire their cage is made of. how do you make them quit rubbing their noses. or can we put something on the wire where they can't hurt themselves, but can still climb?

  1. I have an iguana as well the only thing you can do is take it to a vet the reason they are doing this is becose they want out side of the cage just let them outside it for a few hours and they prolly want alone time from each other

  2. Sorry, but even a cage that 3 to 5 grown men can fit into is not big enough for 2 iguanas.  You need a place about as big as a bedroom.  In lieu of that, what you may consider is making places where each iguana can hide, in case they are wanting to get away from the other.  If you can't let them free-roam then the only other suggestion I can offer is to replace the wire with something less abrasive.

    Good luck!

  3. line the bottom foot or so with plexiglas, this may help. try letting them out a few times a day.

  4. Rostal Trauma is fairly common with iguanas.  I don't know what to tell you, as you've essentially eliminated the only decent options available to you.  In my experience, Iguanas usually get stressed and hostile from feeling confined.  For whatever reason, they happen to be a species that just does significantly better when allowed more freedom.  Barring that option, you may want to see what Iguana tastes like barbecued.

  5. get a plastic cage
