HELP my parakeet is BLEEDING!!!!!?

My parakeet (Cupid) is bleeding!! He was sitting on my finger when i noticed that under his right wing there was some blood!! but when i looked closer i noticed that on both of his wings in about the same area the was a patch of blood!!! our local vet is closed until monday!! what do i do?? what causes this??

he might have done somthing to causethe bleeding.  like bang it off of something.   if it starts to bleed again. take it to the emergency vet.

he might of started preening him self and plucked a feather but to stop the bleeding you could put some flour on it you should supervise it until it stops and make sure it doesnt eat it

this works if your cutting its claws and it starts to bleed but ive never done it hope this helps

Their should be an emergency vet somewhere nearby if you live by a city, otherwise maybe if you call your regular vet's phone number it will refer you to another number if they are closed.

something similar happened to my canary! Keep your eye on his behavoir and, if he seems OK, it's probably a small cut from his preening!

ok first relax. The bird feeds off your energy. I know this is scary. See where the blood is coming from. Probably blood feathers coming in. Alot of times they will preen and break them. He also could be picking at himself for a number of reasons. If the bleeding starts again apply some flour on where you think it is bleeding. You dont want to use syptic unless its a toenail. Not on skin. Main thing is to keep your bird quite. The more he flys or jumps around the more he can bleed because of blood pressure. If bleeding stops watch him closely. If you have a emergency vet that sees birds take him there to be safe. If not then do the best you can until monday. Keep him warm, fed, and quite. Put flour on any bleeding you see. check to see if he has lice or mites as well. Dont let him bathe until you see what is going on as we want to keep the area clotted. Good luck to you.
