HELP ... need a quick lesson in how to move a 220 outlet ..need to go about 25 ft?

need to move it to the next room so we can plug in the window a/c - got new windows and it won't fit where the exsisting 220 is .. thanks

  1. Locate where the outlet needs to be, plan how to run the wire through the wall and through the studs in the wall. Then drill the holes needed to do that and pull the appropriate size wire to the new location from the old one. Install a new back box in the new location  and make a splice in the old box.  Cover the old box with a blank plate and install the receptacle in the new location.  The theory is easy, drilling the holes in the right spot is why qualified professional electricians get paid to work on these things. Good luck.  Get the number of a qualified pro electrician to do the work, it's faster and easier on you.


  2. You give no details.  Is it a raised house?  Is it single story, two story, attic, basement?
