HELP; need information about Thailand?

My boyfriend and I are planning on travelling to Thailand in early February of next year;

I would love to gain some insite on some other peoples experiences and where to go. Is Phuket the best place to be regarding beaches and culture? We want to stay somewhere close to the beach, or even on the beach, does anyone have any suggestions? A lovely romantic complex preferrably no kids running around the place.

Is early Feb a good time to go as well? Would love to get some opinions and comments about the country, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

  1. Febuary should be fine to go its great all year long, even the storm seasons arent bad in alot of areas, just some rain, check out koh samui, its smaller and cheaper than phuket less people too, but its growing all the time, its the 3rd largest island in thailand but still really small, tonnes of bungalows right on the beach and hotels from 6 bucks a night up to 500 great cheap food and lots to do, diving swimming zoos and reptile shows free kickboxing fights at night, its just awsome, im going back again this month

  2. i think phuket is alright or outside phuket , three or four days, you can do the tourist things phi phi island etc , i would then

go up to kho samui you also have other islands up there ,

on samui chaweng or lamai beach are the best ,can be a bit of  nosie on chaweng depens where you stay, lamai is lot less  noise, you can go up to hua hin overnight train cabin first class , it is cheap 4 days in hua hin , up to bangkok and home depens how long you have, but it is a good option

arrive phuket fly out bangkok or you can do it the other way, up to you, check out asiarooms for accommodation you can read the reviwes ,but understand you can not please everyone take the average when reading them

thailand is good and also the people

        have a great time

  3. The beaches are getting pretty touristy - - you might try krabi or koh chang - you might try Pranburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan on the gulf side if you want some seclusion but might need a car for that -- as to culture - - not much in beach areas - - have fun

  4. itis a good place, nice beaches, everything

  5. If you are looking for culture, give Phuket a miss.

The other posters are correct about the weather during february, but incorrect about Phuket being an ideal place for you.  Phuket residents are about 60% Muslim, and that number spikes once you are away from Patong beach.  Patong beach has a high number of street girls and Ladyboys- and as you are there for a romantic get-away with your bf....I would consider some place else.  The island also trails other islands and tourist spots in Thailand in the culture department.

You sound to be a young couple not wanting to hear screaming kids and so on.  Well, all the nicer resorts in Phuket are magnets for family vacations.

I will suggest for you going to an island on the other side of Thailand- Koh Chang.  There is a beach there (Lonely Beach) and you can stay at Siam Beach Resort.  The Resort is reasonably priced, and it is rather secluded.  There is plenty to do on the Island of Koh Chang, and your tourist dollar will go further there than it will at Phuket!

    Enjoy!

  6. February would be a great time to go.  Air temperature is about 33 C (91 degrees) during the days and 24 C (75 degrees) at night.  Water about 24C (82 degrees).  You'll see very little rain if any.  Phuket has the infamous Patong beach with plenty of bars and damsels in distress.  there's lots of tourist shopping too.

Many people are opting for one of the other islands Koh Samui (former coconut plantation) in in the Gulf of Thailand and was not hit by the Tsunami a few years ago and is a large tourist destination.  Some enjoy Koh Chang (Elephant Island, near Cambodia), Koh Pipi (James Bonds filmed there, its very beautiful)and Koh Phangan (Full moon party).

For the rest it depends on your style.  There's golfing, fishing, drinking, dancing, diving, surfing, banana boats, temples and outdoor adventures (trained monkeys climbing trees to pick coconuts is pretty cool but how long can you watch that?)

  7. Yes,I have .You find at http://ruammirt.blogspot.com

  8. February should be fine but it's going to be hot (but Thailand is always hot anyway).  Phuket is great- very nice beach and very romantic.  The sea is amazingly clear and the sand is spotless.  You'll love it.

  10. Hey Lauz,

I was just checking out travel to Thailand tonight myself for around January, will be visiting with my thai girlfriend. I found this place called Haadkaew Resort located in Songkla. This located in the gulf coast of thailand and has awesome reviews as well. You can get a bungalow w/aircondition rented for 800 baht which is about $25.00 per day right by the beach. You would fly into Hat Yai city and take a 20 minute ride to the resort approx. As far as the time to travel there, your going at a perfect time because Monsson season is over and before April hits with the hot weather.

Go here to checkout this place :  http://www.guidetothailand.com/thailand-...

Hope you have a great time which ever way you decide. Let me know how you made out.

    Enjoy!!!

  11. Well you have certainly chosen the best time of year to go to Thailand :)  April,May,June...TOO HOT! From then thru to September.....TOO WET!! November thru February ....PERFECT!!  Phuket is ideal for what you want, there is so much to see and do there. A trip to the Phi Phi Islands is not to be missed......AWESOME!! You also have the Simon Cabaret, a Ladymans show which is stunning but the icing on the cake has to be FANTASEA......a complex on 140 acres which has to be seen to be believed! I am going there in early September on the recommendation of friends who are pretty choosey about these things. They said "If you do nothing else, make sure you go to Fantasea, its awesome." You can look it up on the net but it doesnt really do it justice I saw the DVD and they were interviewing customers as they exited and one American said it was better than Disneyland!!  BTW I will be staying at the Front Villages at Karon Beach check it out on the net. They look really nice I can give you more info when I return, if you like. Regards, Patty.

BTW this will be my 3 or 4th trip to this wonderful country. Try to have a couple of nights in Bangkok its an amazing city,so much to see and do and the shopping is great! MBK shopping center and the Chatuchuk Weekend Markets NOT to be missed!! Oh theres heaps more to see and do in Bangkok.......Chinatown,excellent shopping! Look it all up.You can take the sky train around the city and the Thais are such obliging and kind people they will help you get to your destination.
