I was trying to put a latch/lock on my fridge and I must have drilled a copper pipe and now my fridge seems to be leaking a gas, probably coolant. How do I stop it from not leaking? I'm gonna guy try put some sodder in it to cover it up since it's metal, but is there any other way to fix it? I don't have a lot time right now since it's leaking right now!

  1. sand the hole a little, then mix some epoxy and apply to the hole, for short term fix.

Ideally, u should let the gas finish, then solder it closed, then regas the fridge, it should last much longer that way.

  2. The refrigerant is pumped under pressure and simply soldering will not work. The unit will have to expel all the refrigerant, be soldered with silver solder, have a vacuum pulled on the inside of lines, then recharged. May be better to buy a new one.

  3. You live in a place where you have to lock your refrigerator?

You need new digs as well as a new fridge.

  4. Time to buy a new refrigerator, Genius.   You screwed up big time.

  5. I sprang a leak in the solid copper pipe that feeds the water to the toilet tank.  I took a large rubber band, the kind that they use on broccoli, and a little clamp and tightened it up it lasted 6 months, then I tightened  it again and got a plumber.  Hope this helps.

  6. At this point there is not much you can do  the hole would have to be properly repaired and you would need to have some recharge the coolant for you, your better off buying a new fridge

  7. Kiss that fridge goodbye.

  8. try duct tape. or if that doessn't work try chewing gum. or just unplug it.
