Ok so my boyfriend is graduating from a technical school and i want to throw him a suprise graduation party.. well he is now at an internship and graduates in December even though he will be done before then... would it be weird to have it in the summer like near September instead of in the winter so it can be outside? My parents house is not big enough for everyone to be inside but we have a big deck and back yard.. would that be a weird time to have a graduation party in Sep.. even though he technically graduates in Dec?

  1. I would wait until he actually graduates, you could have it at a restaurant. alot of them have private party rooms that you can use for nothing if you are ordering from them, or you could rent a small hall or something like that. It would be easy to pull of the surprise in december because you could just tell him you are going to a christmas party/

  2. you might want to look into a nice indoor venue, such as a fire hall. rental fees aren't that expensive and that way, you'll be able to celebrate his graduation in December =)

  3. Don't count your chickens before they hatch!

  4. no i think you should just tell them that you would have had it when he graduated but you wanted it outside so you waited!!

just explain it to him and the guests!!

  5. It just doesn't seem like it would have as big an impact if you throw the party in Sept.  You could always get a bunch of fire pits and do it outside later.  Or is there another location that would accomodate everyone?

  6. I think its do-able because its a surprise.  As long as you state on the invatation that its a surprise (come up with something cute) and kinda try to spin it like thats the reason you are having it in September and not in December.  I think they do this for a birthday party on an episode of friends too...

  7. No, I don't think its weird and will be much less stress for you in sept. than in Dec.  Maybe you could combine some kind of theme like "TECHNICALLY" a Dec. grad.. someway to tie in the technical school logo??  Or maybe an "Early Launch to Graduation" ? If you are having friends and family everyone will get why you are doing it early..  good luck.. hope you have fun.
