  1. Don't pay attention to some of the people on this site. I've only been on it for a few days but I've seen a lot of RUDE answers. Do you know your American size? I don't know the conversions.

Dublin makes a field boot that tends to run wide in the calf according to the reviews on www.smartpak.com. And they do have wide calf sized available. See:http://www.smartpakequine.com/productcla...

Also Equestrian Collections has plus sizes available in breeches. For example:

    and

    Hope this is helpful.

  2. You know what, Ignore the people who are saying you are too big to ride.  They are being mean, and judgemental. Like somebody said, not all riders can be a size 0, heck, I'm a size Large in my riding pants, and I have a 38C chest. Yeah, not stopping me from riding. As long as you have a horse who can support you. But I weigh 133, so yep.

Check places like Doversadlery, SmartPak, Petsmart (if they still have theirs.) Your local tack shop can help.

  3. Heh! ignore all those people who try to tell you it's cruel. I've seen a lot of heavy people (me included) who are "light" riders while many 9 stoners thump on their horses backs like a sack of potatoes at every step.

It's a problem to get riding clothes. I have an old pair of breeches which are really stretchy and although they say size 14 in them stretch to a good 16+.

Boots are the real headache. I would suggest jodphur boots and minichaps. Buy the largest you can and take them to a saddler and get him to insert a vertical strip of strong elastic alongside the zip. This will keep the circulation going in your calf!!

  4. ^ stupid she said riding clothes )     Have you tried robinsons, or decathlon < that is a sports shop but it has a riding section if uve tried both of them wot abut throstleness x hope ive helped nd my mum is size 26 x so she is lookin for riding gear to ride with me too so if you do find some riding gear plz contact me thankyou xx

  5. Hi there, I work in a tack shop in London and we have a great product for plus size riders, they are called fuller fillies and they do jods etc. Look them up online and see if they have anything that will help you out.

Really hope this helps, and well done for rescuing your boy, i rescued a miniature shetland stallion who had not seen a farrier for 5 years! Has twisted pedal bones in both front feet but is now sound!!! The rescue ones are so much more appreciative of your care! My big boy (though not as big as yours) is grouchy and no matter how much love you give him he only shows appreciation occasionally! Keep up the good work. :-)  xx

Ooo, also, shires, aigle and lots of other boot manufacturers sell a xtra wide short boot..... if not fuller fillies do fantastic half chaps and tuffa do wide ankle boots.

Oh, and yeah ignore everyone who obviously hasn't a clue about how much weight a horse can carry comfortably! I have a fallabella, standing at 28 inches high, and he can pull 2 average adults in a lightweight trap! Imagine what your clysedale is capable of carrying! lol "-)

Even though this is stateside, e-mail them for additional ideas...I'm sure they'll do what they can for you.  I have purchased riding apparel from them and they have been most helpful.

Edit:  "Kaza"s website, "Fuller Fillies"..looks like a really good one.

Edit:  BB...shall we refer to them as weight n**i's....?  Its fitting.   Schmucks that they are.

  7. http://www.horse-rider-etc.com/clothing/...

In that paragraph on the right it says plus size clothing.

I believe they are in European sizes.

  8. God I cant believe soem peoples replys that just pisses me off even though they arnt directed to me It just make me mad that people have the nurves to say stuff like that. I would Try ebay, or look online and see if you can find any one that makes custom show clothes, Generaly when you get soemthing custom made they will fit better on you.

here are some sites you may want to check out:

    www.stateline.com

  9. If you look at the obesity statistics for our country, how it progresses as we age, I'd just like to say I hope I live long enough to see some of the snide little chiquitas deal with expanding waists following childbirth and sagging b*****s.  Rome fell, dearies, and so will those.

Just consider how many people struggling with weight in their thirties were slim teens.

Is this an endorsement for poor eating practices or being fat?  Certainly not.  Our horses can be a great source of inspiration for weight loss and being in the best condition we can possibly acheive...but to be snide and downright S****y opens the c**p funnel on their heads.  I curse them with cottage cheese thighs and dunlap disease...where the belly dun-laps over the belt.

As a person who has struggled with weight issues my entire life and is finally getting a good handle on it, I encourage others to work towards the same, and I encourage those who think picking on a persons' short comings is fine to consider what they are likened unto.

I would recommend a good boot...like Ariat.  I had custom chaps made and wore them over regular jeans.  A lycra/denim stretch jean in a snug fit under chaps is a good substitute for regular riding pants.

  10. Sorry...I can't help you

But the JERKS on here that are 'elitists' need to SHUT UP!!  Who made you the weight police??

What judgemental @sses!  You're probably also the insensitive and stuck up s****., think they know it all, jerks that REAL horsepeople can't stand to be around.

It's people like ya'll that cause more hurt feelings and low self esteem than outright bullies.

By the way...I weigh plenty...wanna say something to me??  If you were anywhere near me...I'd have you bawling like a baby.

    You make me ill....JERKS!!

It's people like ya'll too that make yahoo answers such a FUN place to come.  Let me guess...you're english riders??

I know several english riders and they don't behave like you at all.  You obviously know nothing about stock and quarter horses.

  11. Evansss

  12. Try Fuller Fillies

    http://www.fuller-fillies.co.uk/

and I think Robinsons do some as well.

Take no notice of the rude people - we can't all be stick insects.

  13. Hey!

I am a size 34 and I am not a big person. I am under 150lbs. Is there a size chart I am missing out on? 26 is not big

  14. well a friend of mine swears by clothes from this company; http://www.fuller-fillies.co.uk/  i have bought a few items from them and they have been great and well worth the money, although there clothes are cut big (im a 14/16) i have been wearing there size 16 clothes, which are quite big on me!

im sure if you do a google search you would find something.

  15. You know what, NOT all riders who ride are a size 0, and for all you azzez out there who think heavier riders are horrible, you dont know much about horses and are so thick headed that you couldnt be ashamed of yourself even tho you should be.

that being said, i'd like to also know, i'm not that big but my sizes are hard to find as well. . . are you talking about show clothes? or training/fun riding clothes.

i dont show so i dont know where to look, maybe try ebay or another shopping site like that.

for fun clothes i go and buy from a cheep store and get running pants. i perfer them most days anyway for regular clothes. (and so do most the ladies i worked with).

so good luck, and i cant wait to see more serious answers that answer the question asked.

  16. Why is everybody being so harsh about larger riders? There is nothing wrong with larger people. If you live near altringham, then there is a shop called Estate Supplies, which I think does clothing in a wide range of sizes. If you google it then you may well find some, or ebay it.

AlthoughI personally am a size 6, then there is nothing wrong with plus size riders!

YOU GO GIRL AND IGNORE ALL THOSE NASTY COMMENTS ABOUT RUNNING ALONGSIDE THE HORSE ETC. IF THE HORSE DIDNT LIKE YOU, THEN HE WOULDNT LET YOU GET ON/WOULD THROW YOU OFF STRAIGHT AWAY! i'M SURE HE LOVES YOU AS MUCH AS YOU LOVE HIM!
