  1. 4f+8=-3

    4f=-3-8

    4f=-11

    f=-4/11

    2x/5 - x/3 = 3

    3*(2x/5) - 5*(x/3) = 3

    6x/15 - 5x/15 = 3

    x/15 = 3

    x= 3 * 15

    x=45

    TM isn't wrong. that is a correct method too :)

  2. 4f+8= -3: subtract 8 from both sides and you get 4f= -11 then divide 4 on both sides to cancel the 4 on the left and you get f= -11/4

    2x/5 - x/3 =3: you need to find a common denominator which is 15 so you don't have to deal with fractions. you mulitply each thing by 15 (i.e. 15 * 2x/5 etc). After you reduce you end up with 6x-5x=45

    resulting with 1x=45 so the answer is 45. you can check to see if it is right if you don't believe me.

  3. 4f+8= -3

    4f= -3-8 (note how the 8 becomes a MINUS)

    4f= -11

    f= -11/4 (note how the 4 becomes a DIVIDER)

    2x/5 - x/3 = 3 multiply everything by 5 to get rid of first fraction:

    2x-5x/3=15 multiply everything by 3 to get rid of 2nd fraction:

    6x-5x=45

    x=45

    hope this helps

    Dave- i have an A-level in Maths thank you

  4. f = -2.75

    x = 45

  5. well the first one. you need to put 8 on the other side of the equal sign. so when you do that, its -3+8. which is 5. so its now 4f=5. after that you need to divide bothe sides by 4. so 4/4 and 5/4. 4/4 is 1 and 5/4 is 1.25 so now the equation is 1f=1.25. which is the same as f=1.25

    i dont know what your talking about on the second one. are those fractions? or are you dividing those?

    EDIT: TM girl did it wrong on the first one. on the second step.
