HELP- skin peeling from sun?

Question

I got sunburned 4 days ago and it has since turned to tan. But today it started peeling and now i have a somewhat significant splotch of much lighter skin on my upper back.

I am looking for details on how long this will take to go away, and things i can do to speed up that process.

put salt, lemon juice (concentrated), bleach, and alcohol that would calm the pain :D

jp, put ice all over the burned areas, be sure not to leave the ice in one spot for too long or it will damage your skin even more, try lotions that are rich in vitamine e and aloe vera and hydrate. try taking a shower with cold water that would calm the pain right away.

Oh this isn't good, I am afraid. You actually "killed" your skin. Your skin as many layers, but the ones that we are talking about is the upper most layer called the epidermis, and the lower layer called the dermis. When you get a severe sun burn you actually kill that top layer of skin. It dies, hench you peel. You may be young, and most people cause 80 percent of the whole life's damage before age 18. The safe thing you can do is apply self tanning lotions that will darken your skin. They are messy, and you may turn out orange instead of tan, depending on your natural skin tone. Next time you go out for a day in the sun, you will want to apply a high spf sun tan lotion. Remember, you want the one that protects, not the one that let's in harmful rays to tan. I don't want to sound like a doctor, but I can't stress enough how harmful ultra violet is to your skin. Don't be fooled either. Tanning booths are the same rays, and cause the same damage. The best thing you can do, really, is live with the cosmetic unpleasantness you have right now, and apply aloe, or some other soothing lotion on the area. Take care of yourself....
