1. You will know when your molly is about to have her fry, because she will have what we call a "squared off" look to her. To be squared off, the fish will actually look like she has dropped some weight. All of it will sort of go down to the bottom of her abdomen. There will also be something that looks like it is pushing out of her belly.

Mollies give birth in substrate, so her actions will slow down a bunch and she will sink to the bottom of the tank. She will most likely hover around the bottom of the tank awhile until she starts to give birth to her fry. Separate the mother as soon as she gives birth, because fish will instinctively eat their fry.

EDIT: As for being back to school in two days, I suggest that you just let your molly be by herself while you are there. Just hope that she gives birth in the next two days. If worst comes to worst, she will give birth while you are in school and eat some of the fry. The most important thing to do is separate her from the fry as soon as you see that she has given birth.

Please email if you have more questions.

    Good luck! :)

  2. Well don't put the mom with the fry!!!!! Unless she hasn't given birth to her fry. Well just don't do it!!! Shell eat her fry if she get hungry. Put her in the orginal tank or in a seperate tank away from the fry.also if she gets a boxy looking tummy she's going to have them so watch out!!!

    Goodluck!!!! =D

  3. Just practice your Lamaze....lol..just kidding, she should be alright, you did the right thing taking the first step and putting her in the nursery, keep a close eye on her, she will know what to do naturally. Take her out of the nursery when she is finished.
