My sister and I are throwing our parents a 25th wedding anniversary party....invitations are sent out and some people RSVPed already....today, however, we found out that my brother (in scouts) has a camping trip the weekend of our party (July 11) and both our parents are going on the trip. We need to make something up to stall them a day so they can be surprised at the party. Any advice??! or should we send out change of date cards? is it too late to do that?!

  1. Sorry, but whatever you do, you need to notify people invited that the date is to be changed.

The best idea would be to change the night for at least 2 weeks after your parents return.....then they won't expect anything to happen.

You may also think of the family travelling to camp site where your parents will be and surprise them....we have done this 25years ago when my father in law was a scout leader....the scout group knew about it, so it was no big deal

The only other reasonable answer is for your brother to say he's going away to your parents, but of course he's going to lie......but it's probably worth it, and go ahead with your plans!

Hope all works out well for you!

  2. say you need some quality time with them that might work.

  3. i would call everybody a.s.a.p

  4. I would change the date & quit stressing.  Everyone should understand.

  5. send out new invites- everyone will understand.

  6. Unless the RSVPers have already made flight plans, July 11 is plenty of time to change, if you do it NOW. Don't wait, though, because even those driving in have to arrange their schedule. You might make phone/email contact with your invitees and then follow up with change cards.

    Good luck!
