I just got a new sesction d welsh cob. I have a saddle budget(with tack) of $1500. It needs to be good quality...I found a mondega saddle package on greenhawk.net...but it comes with a half pad. Is that bad. With a welsh cob do i need a wide tree? I NEED INFO!!!!please help! her is a phote of it:

  1. i think the best thing to do when you get a horse/cob/pony is to get the saddle fitted by a saddler, this way you are certain the it will actually fit, because if the saddle doesn't fit, it can cause serious long term problems.


  2. My advice is to look on ebay for the specific brand you want. You can get really good deals on there. I just bought a Bates Caprilli [without the changeable gullet system] used for $180. I bought it for re-sale purposes. Then I bought a barely broken in Harry Dabbs A/O [usually retailing around $2000] for $720. Good luck!

    EDIT: for sizing, get a saddle that has a trial period first, especially if you arent having a saddle fitter fit your cob.
