  1. Did you ask the 'stranger' what food they were feeding and feed the very same food?  Diet change can cause watery stool, but so can the stress of the new people and new environment he's in.

  2. He could have watery stool just from the stress of a new home and a change of diet. However, seeing as how you got him from a stranger, I'm sure he isn't vaccinated, and I would be taking him to my vet asap. There are some diseases in puppies that can be prevented through vaccination, however I wouldn't want to take the chance. I would phone my vet and get him in for no later that monday for an exam, however, if he gets dehydrated, lethargic and if his diarrhea gets worse, then I would be taking him in to an emergency vet asap....

  3. if you just got him from a stranger you shouldve def taken him to the vet already.

    i strongly suggest doing so.

as well as aking sure he gets the best nutrition possible...dont  skimp on the dog food

  4. It happens to all puppies that come to a new home. You're more than likely feeding it something it's never eaten before.

Put it on dry puppy food and cut out all treats until it's poo gets back to normal.

Think of it this way. If you want to another country (China, India, etc.) and you ate the food there, chances are the first few nights the toilet would be your best friend.. Same goes for dogs... Their stomachs are very sensitive.

EDIT: In regards to the vaccination question, contact your local Humane Society and they will refer you to a low cost vetrinarian service unless they have facilities to do it themselves. You can save a lot of money this way..

Or you can purchase a puppy insurance plan which runs about $15.00 a month and covers all shots and checkups..

  5. Seeing you just got the pup from a stranger I would advise taking the pup to the vet watery stool or not. It is normal for a pup to have loose stool but nothing like diarreha.

  6. He sleeps a lot because he is a baby. And all babies sleep a lot. He has a watery stool because he probably has worms. When I get a new puppy, the first thing I do is take him to the vet to be checked. In all my years of breeding,  and taking care of puppies, I can't remember getting a single pup that didn't need worming. It is best to take him to the vet to do it rather than just guess yourself. The vet can get a specimen, and examine it under a microscope to determine what kind of worms to treat him for. Best of Luck to you and your new pup!

  7. cottage cheese but if it gets worse you have a problem and a vet is needed.Tilks Mom

  8. Runny stool can be caused by a variety of things, including changes in food or drinking water, stress(new home), worms or illness.

More than likely, it will start to clear up in a few days. Regardless, you should still make an appointment with the vet for a checkup and to start/continue the vaccination cycle.

  9. Have you taken your pup to the vet since you've gotten him? That is the first thing I do when I get  a new pet. Your vet can tell you age, health, shots (if necessary at this time or will tell you when he needs to start), worming, etc. Why don't you do that now, to make sure about your new puppy's health. Good luck and have fun with your new puppy.

  10. I think that's normal.  Every puppy i've ever had has had very wet poo.  It's always solidified more as it grew up.
