i just got my conure yesterday . when i get him out of the cage hes a sweeeett heart. when hes on top of his cage or in it and i try to touch him he bites me and it hurts.! what can i do to tell him no to do that and that i wont hurt him!!!!

and i would love to know how to potty train him!!! and whats are good people food to cook for him and fruit

  2. get a dowel rod that is about 3/4". Have the bird step up on the dowel for a while. Then after a few weeks you can start using your hand.

    I think it is best that a new bird be allowed three days to a week of being left alone. Talk to them when you clean, feed and water them but no other contact. Then you can start talking to the bird. This will give the bird a chance to catch on to the schedule and the coming and goings of the residents of your house. These birds live for years. Take your time and remember the key word in training any animal if patience. Forcing

    a bird to do something that it doesn't want to do is

    harmful for your relationship with the bird. If a bird doesn't act like it wants you to bother it wait a half hour or so and try again. The bird will tell  you how to progress.
