I decided to go to my last resort and reinstall Windows XP on my Dimension 3000 DELL Computer.

The only thing is, I don't know how to do that.

So could any tell me step by step how to do so?

Thanks!!!

  2. 1.) Find your XP CD, and the serial number.

    2.) Start up your computer

3.) Press F1, F2, F8, F12, or Delete keys, whichever opens your "Setup/BIOS" function up.

4.) Once in BIOS, find the section that relates to "Boot Priority."

5.) Change the Primary Boot Device to "CD-ROM"

6.) Save the changes to BIOS and turn off the computer.

7.) Turn on your computer and insert the XP CD.

8.) Follow the directions until the setup comes to a Partition Selection screen.

9.) Select your C drive and follow the directions to delete the partition open the drive, then create a new partition.

10.) Press Enter and it will ask you to format, use the <Quick> option, it will go about 20 times faster.

11.)  Follow the directions until XP is reinstalled

  3. BEFORE you do this, important !!! theres a folder on your hard drive called DRIVERS

Copy the content onto a CD or USB pen first, or you may be stuck afterward

Pop in the CD, restart PC, press F12 (I think) for the boot menu, choose CD as your boot device and when you see message 'Pess any key ...'.. press any key and follow the instructions

Why you need to reinstall ? most Windows problems are fixable, do not take advice like 'No way, reformat' without knowing what you really have to do..

  4. Just put the CD labeled "Windows XP" and then restart the computer. The CD will load and will give you the option to install.

  5. first of all you need the xp cd. then put it in the cd drive , then just follow the on screen directions.

    Maybe this will help.

  6. First an most important -

Back uo all those important songs, photos and other documents to memory stick or disk or an external hard drive.

If you have an external hard drive remove it , and any other memory storage devices.

Is it to be a format and fresh install?

  7. Go to YouTube and type in "install windows XP," see what pops up. Then you can watch them step by step.

    Hope this helps,
