My mother is on SSI and today she got convicted of a drug felony...Will she loose her SSI? She is in no condition to take care of herself. She has never been in any sort of trouble and she knows that she has messed up badly. Thanks

  1. Wow, ummm I'm not sure.

  2. Well, if she's been convicted, chances are the State that convicted her will now be taking care of her. If her sentence was prison, she'll get treatment there. If probation, the courts will most likely sentence her to drug testing, counseling, etcetera. If you have concerns about her ability to take care of herself, address the prosecuting attorneys and ask for assistance/advice for her.

  3. yes.she will loose her SSI

  4. Yes, more than likely she will lose her SSI. Thats not a for sure thing, but she sure could.

  5. yes its gone

  6. Sorry to say but I hope so.  I know alot of people that go to work everyday and are subject to drug test in order to keep their jobs, then there's people like your mom that doesn't have to work, gets money from the state and spends it on drugs.  She should be ashamed of herself.  Don't follow in her footsteps, call a family member and move out.

  7. Not to be rude but if she's using her SSI money to buy drugs because that's probably her income then I hope she loses it. There's others in need of it more. You take care of her.

  8. I would say she will lose over the course of time.
