I recently bought a samsung S630, it came with AA alkaline batteries. however after just 7shots the battery bar went to zero, it beeped 3 times and switched off..

Since then i ve bought several Duracel Batterys (AA Alkaline) but they all give me the same life, after 6-8 shots the camera beeps 3 times and would switch off..

I really love this camera it has excellent features, i am just wondering is there anything i can do tio improve battery life..will it help if i buy rechargables? or is there something that i can do

  1. This is why I never buy cameras that require regular AA batteries.  My camera uses a Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery.  The camera comes with the charger which just plugs into the outlet and charges up in approx. an hour.  If you can, I would look into getting a camera with similar features with a rechargeable battery like my Canon.  If that's not possible, definitely get rechargeable AAs and a charger that holds 6 batteries so you can charge up a bunch and take them with you.  It's always good to have backups.  Good luck!

  2. AA alkaline batteries don't have the power needed to operate a digital camera.  You need NiMH rechargeable batteries which will last almost forever.

Just found and bought a new Energizer Compact Charger without batteries for less than $10 at Walmart.  It checks each cell and gives a status with blinking lights. It really works great. You can buy the Energizer batteries separately for less than the package with batteries of two types. Had lots of batteries and chargers, but this was so good could not pass it by.  It really works great.  You can keep your batteries fully charged, but not overcharged.

The source link will help you clean the camera and battery electrical contacts and also has great tips for using digital cameras.

The secret to making digital cameras work better is having good electrical contacts between the batteries and the camera.

Digital cameras require lots of power. If electrical contacts are not really good, this can cause lots of problems so battery and camera contacts must be cleaned properly.  Batteries may have a full charge, but will be viewed by the camera as low if contacts are not really good. The LCD display is a low steady load, but with extending the lens, focus, optical zoom, and flash charging in the capture mode; it is like starting a car.  With bad contacts, cameras can do strange things like making bad pictures or shutting off with the lens out.
