HERMIT CRABS BIG CLAW HELP...

my hermit craps big claw fell completly off when i picked him up...what does it mean??? is he going to die??

i picked him up by the back of the shell also like i always do..

  1. There's only one way to know if he's okay. Wait. If he's not completly back to normal in about two weeks tops, somethings wrong.

He probably had just molted and hermit crabs are very fragile right after their molting cycle...but dont worry because the next time he molts he will grow the leg back...as wierd as it sounds it happens...dont worry...but it is best if after they molt you make sure they have plenty of water and dont handle them that much because they are very delicate

  3. i work w hermits.

    when there big claw or other small claws fall off this means they are not getting enough calcium. this can be changed by putting a calcium block or calcium rich food in there cage. they will regrow there legs when they molt.

    u should look up molting conditions cus the wont just molt on anything or in any environment.
