I tinted all the windows myself. They came out great. IT costed me 25$. It is medium dark. It is almost very dark. It is not light at all. I do have a ford crown victoria which the police drive. You think i will get a ticket? Should i remove the front 2 door windows to play safe or should i just wing it and see if i get pulled over. I heard cops may feel unsafe if they approach your car and cant see in it...they might draw their guns.

What you guys think i should do.

thanks

  1. You cannot have the front windows tinted. To be on the safe side, I would remove the tint in the front but you can leave it in the back

  2. I suppose it depends on your states' law regarding tinted windows. However, in CA you can tint your windows, but if they are a certain shade (too dark) you can get a ticket because it impedes safe driving and would be a vehicle code violation. The only window that is not ok to have any tint whatsoever is the windshield. As for drawing their weapon most officers that are approaching a vehicle during a traffic stop will always have their hand on their gun, either in the holster or at their side because traffic stops are very dangerous from a police standpoint.

  3. check w/ local law enforcement to see at what point tint would be considered illegal.  If you get pulled over, hopefully that officer will just have you remove the tint with no ticket.

  4. It depends on the state you live in and the percentage of light your tint blocks.  Some states allow less than 25% tint on the front doors, and some states don't allow front door tint at all.

If you can't see someone sitting in the car in broad daylight, it's too dark.  If you get pulled over, you will DEFINITELY make an officer uncomfortable.  In situations like that, I've drawn my weapon and held it either behind my back or down low at my side, out of sight of the driver, just in case.  This is a rare occurrence, however, and it depends on the situation that I find myself.

  5. it depends on the state you live in. police use a devise to measure how dark the tint is to determine if it with in acceptable limits. if your front and rear glass is totally tinted, you you can receive a summons.  if you are involved in an accident with a windshield that is totally tinted, you will be at fault even if your not. tinted glass diminishes your vision to a degree and that can be used in court against you.
