played in Wassenarr, Netherlands on June 12, 2011.
The final match proved a tough battle for both the teams. The outfits showed their intensions at the start of the play as they demonstrated a skilful play with furious space. Despite the fact of having a number of good chances, neither of the teams
were successful in the first half, which ended goal-less. But eventually, it was the HGC outfit who finally broke the dead-lock in the 60thminute, ten minutes prior to the close of the play. Timmo Kranstauber was the man who scored the decider and
took the lead by 1-0.
Although, the club did not have a great season, but lady luck remained with them and they emerged victorious.
“It has been a really tough season for us, so this is just elation and disbelief. It is an unreal feeling,” Brent Dancer, said the Australian international defender after the match concluded.
“I have been here (in the Netherlands) for 13 years and I have not anything, so it is a great feeling. I am so glad we could win it here. What a moment for the club after what has been a tough year for us. It is a great year now,” Rob Short, one of
the Club’s Canadian players, who also have the record of most number of appearances for Canada explained his feelings after the important victory.
Meanwhile, in the women’s event, the Dutch club, Den Bosch, defeated the English club Leicester by 4-1 and clinched the European title for the 12th time.
