The large black ants obviously love the trash can areas outside the house, but they are also starting to enter the house. HELP!!!!! I am looking for maybe some "Home Remidies" or similar ways to rid our home of these annoying critters!

  1. Determine if an infestation of carpenter ants is

actually present. Ants may enter houses while

foraging, or new queens may enter homes after

nuptial flights during spring months. These

occasional ants may not actually be causing

problems. If an infestation is present, locate the nest. This

is often difficult but not impossible. The best

indication of an infestation is the sawdust that

ants excavate from their tunnels. Another

indication of an infestation is sound produced

by the workers as they excavate wood to en-

large the nest. This sound often can be heard

through the infested wall. Another clue is the

presence of foraging trails, which are easiest to

locate between sunset and sunrise when the ants

are most active. These foraging trails lead away

from the house to foraging sites, often in trees.  Try calling a infestation company such as TERMINEX.  They should be able to safely get rid of these big black and nasty ants...

  2. Maybe u should try introducing the black ants to the big red ones so they could all go on a date and wont worry u anymore lol.

    Here is a solution :

There are natural insecticidal properties in this spice that kill ants instantly and keep them out of your home. While many spices contain this same property what makes black pepper such a great solution is that most homes have a ready supply. You dont need to go running to the store to find a solution to your ant problem.

As with many home remedies, black pepper for ants is a clean and simple way of resolving your issue. A simple application of black pepper on the most troublesome areas should eliminate your ant problem. Look for areas where the ants are entering the home, such as window sills, cracks, and crevices. Ants come into your home by following a scent trail, which the black pepper makes it impossible for them to follow. Keeping black pepper in any cracks or crevices will also deter new ants from coming into the home.

Almost every kitchen has black pepper in its cupboards. This makes it the ideal solution for dealing with your ant problem.

Hope this will help u out .

  3. the best natural way to kill ants is cornmeal.

When they eat the cornmeal then drink water, the cornmeal expands and explodes the little guys.

    No poison needed

    I'm sure it's quick and painless ;)

  4. Give them cookies and they will implode and the radiation will kill everyone for miles around, including Mr. Fluffy.

Just Kidding!!  I would see about maybe moving the trash cans away from the building if possible, since that may be attracting them.

Because the ants are large and black though, I hope they aren't carpenter ants eating your house.  During the day, usually on a warm sunny side of the house (or near where you are seeing them), put your ear up to the wall.  You may hear a "humming" or "buzzing" sound, that would be the ants in your wall eating the wood.  If these are carpenter ants, there are no home remedies, you will need to call an exterminator.

  5. make them a big candy  outdoor!

  6. hi, they are called carpenter ants first off all and second you could try bee spray on them .thanks for asking that question~Ryry

  7. first if you want to get rid of them temporarily while you can get some real bug spray and ward them off, get some like strong smelling spray or bug spray *my friend once used spray deotorant and it worked* head to a store and get i think its called raid should have some sort of bug on it, spray at all the cracks inside the house then clean the floors to see if theres any juice stains or some sort of sugary foods the ants would like

  8. Put a candy outside and a posion in it and went the ants eat it and they will die.

  9. Sounds like you have carpenter ants ... they live in rotting wood and you probably have some , and they have made nests in the walls.

I don't know of any home remedies to get rid of them.  However I think you can buy something that you sprinkle around the outside of the home for about 12 inches wide from the house  out ... it's granular ant poison.  Check the hardware store.

Had the same problem and needed to have an exterminator come out and bate the house with ant poison  ... that's who told me about the stuff you can spread aroun the outside of the house

Only problem is the ants came back the next year until I finally replaced the rotted window framing of my big picture window.  Haven't had a one since then.

  10. Aside from poisons,  Pour boiling water on them
