HI need help with tax disc ??

i have purchased a car and have insured it, the previous owner posted registation documents off to dvla on monday so it should be on there computer now ? and if i buy a tax disc online tommorrow can i drive my car whilst i am waiting for the tax disc ? because surly police know if you have purchased one just by checking computer ? help please

  1. you could be techniclybe charged or reported for failure to display tax by a traffic warden


  2. Yes you can, just wait for it to arrive. You have paid the duty on the disc and that's all that matters. Just pop it straight in when you get it.

  3. i don't know but why not give your local police station a call and ask them and you will get the right answer.

  4. Yes you can because at that point you have paid the Duty (Vehicle Excise Duty - referred to  as Road Tax)  When you paid it, the DVLA would have sent a confirmation e-mail, and you might have printed off the confirmation.  Keep this in the car.

    The Police have access to the data in their cars, so will know that you have a licence.  But you could get asked by an officer, or traffic warden, on foot.  At worst you could get a ticket that you can appeal quite easily

  5. i bought my tax disc and drove for a week

    when you buy you get a reference number that i think you can quote if stopped and it will verify that you have purchased a tax disc
