You can easily pick up a black cab from Kings Cross station to the Hilton (for around £10).  You can get a tube from Kings Cross (Circle Line towards baker street) and get off at Edware Station (Circle branch) the hotel is about a 5-10 min walk from there.

About 2 to 2.5 miles. There is an underground line, but difficult to do if you have luggage.

Hilton London Metropole is near Paddinton Station. Paddington has the Heathrow Express to the airport.
