  1. I don't think these countries are quite developed/safe enough and their olympic host bids havent been strong enough yet.

  2. can any Africa city afford it? most of the continent is struggling to feed and shelter their people, 2 expensive to host and to bid

  3. Due to aids

  4. it's never been held in any city south of the equator.  Or any country for that matter.

They are considering a city in Brazil for the 2016 games, but whether it makes it or not, we'll see.

I'm pretty sure it hasn't been there because of poverty, danger, or low funding

  5. Well many countries in South America do not have the funds to well...fund an olympics, although Rio De Janiero may be hosted in brazil, 2016 which i am really looking forward to.

But the same is also true for africa, unless they host it in egypt or morocco, those countries can't afford it.

    South africa probably could too.

  6. Many African and South American countries are politically unstable and have a lot of violence - this could certainly pose a threat to tourists and competitors.  Also a lot of these countries simply wouldn't have the money and facilities to hold the Olympic games.  It certainly isn't cheap building multiple stadiums, pools, velodromes etc as well as an Olympic Village and finding more accommodation for spectators.

  7. Well if you think about it the IOC would ideally only want the olympics to be in a beautiful, tourist friendly, booming economic nation. Yet they have been criticized for picking countries like these. With the exception of Berlin 1936 (n**i) and Moscow 1980 (communist). Not until recently have they started adding countries from Africa into the picture. Also this years games were in China(communist, no human right etc.)

  8. I have travelled to both continents in many countries on each of the continents.  Neither Africa nor South America is ready for the big time. Brazil is just not safe for tourists, even cautious tourists. S. Africa  and Egypt are probably the only ones of the countries in Africa but in neither country is one safe in the big cities.
