  1. I think your concern should be on how many hours you need to do.  I think you need to add a couple more on your day.

  2. I was home schooled in high school and worked about about 6 hours Mon-Fri with a few breaks in between.  I started my school work at about 8am and finished about 2pm.  So you are about the same as I was.

  3. For your work to count as credit, you should spend at least 40-60 minutes per day, per subject.  If you are carrying 7 subjects, you should spend 6-7 hours per day doing school work.

This is for standard high school credits - if you are working on AP, CLEP, or concurrent enrollment courses, you should figure 1.5-2 hours per day, minimum, for those courses.

  4. I'm 15 and home-educated, well, actually we're unschoolers.

We don't do a set number of days per week or a set number of hours per day. I just do as much or as little as I feel like doing on any particular day. On average, I prolly do about 3 or 4 hours a day and prolly somewhere between 3 and 7 days a week (I think! It is flippin' hard to put a figure on it when you don't bother keeping track of what you do or following a timetable or schedule, lol!).

Plus, being an unschooler, it is flippin' hard to know what does and doesn't count (in your way of thinking) as 'work'! To me, 'work' is when my dad makes me spend all weekend hammering in fence posts and digging drainage ditches, not studying, lol!

Anyway we don't have to do x hours of a subject in exchange for 'credits' or in order to graduate or go to university so there's no requirement on me to do any more or any less than I want to do.

  5. 5 days a week with a host of electives and field trips on saturdays. Usually only about 3 or 4 hours per day.

  6. It's tricky. Homeschoolers tend to have a wider view of what counts as education. To my hubby, me baking bread is "fun" and on par with reading crappy novels. To me, my bread baking is work. Enjoyable work, but still work. Even housework is part of one's education. It's crazy how many people move out of home and don't know how to cook or take their laundry home to mummy.

  7. My son, 9th, works anywhere from 6 - 10 hours a day plus some weekends and evenings.

He is carrying a heavy load - college prep - plus has his own small business.

  8. well... the school where I teach starts at 8 am and ends at 3:30 (kids get 30 minutes for lunch) So, I suggest 7 hours of "work time" and by that I mean school work.

  9. im CYBERschooled *computer* in middle but my bros Cyberschooled in highschool and hes usually done by 2:00 and so am i, we take an hour lunch, and we take walks durin tha day, umm 5 days a week. idk how many hours, but we start at 8:30 and the ending times differ, but we do take breaks, and stuff.

  10. I was ambitious... I worked from sunrise to sunset 6 days a week. I took 6 mos off my sophomore year to build a house, and still graduated on time.  But prob what you are doing now is average and will end you up graduated on time. Providing, of course, you stick with it ;)
