HOPKINS TALKS A GOOD STORY - cheater? He was tierd and needed those 5 minutes?

Ok to be fair Calzaghe left himself open 1st round- got knocked down, it was his own fault. HE got up and learned from it. Hopkins clearly started to get tierd and faked injury to give himself a breather. Yes the blow was a little low but it was clear to see it was not a hard contact and it was not as low as he made out. HOPKINS TALKS A GOOD STORY. Agree or Disagree?

  1. Disagree! Hopkins talks a cr@p story.......the Sat's show a different story to his despite the 1st round knockdown!

  2. -- Calzaghe might have gotten a stoppage  ..? What were you watching? I remember 2 jabs, 2 left hands. Outside of this what punches did Calzaghe land clean in the fight? How was he gonna stop Hopkins? By low-blow ? Sure as h**l not by landing clean punches to the face or body.

  3. Agree...the 1st round " flash " knockdown was a punch/push ( as the replay clearly showed ) .-- Again ( as the replay showed ) the low blow was at most 1 inch below the belt.-- Although Hopkin's tried to deliver an Academy Award performance.....NOBODY even Cortez bought it.--- I hope that Bernard is aware than an acting career is NOT in his future.

  4. That is what happened - there is nothing to agree or disagree about. Calzaghe might have gotten a stoppage without Bernard's shameful tactics. I can't believe he didn't get points taken away. Did you see how 'fresh' Hopkins was right after the breaks?

  5. Totally agree. Looking at how close the fight was scored ,he could have won the fight by doing that. Should be able to look at the video at the time and see if punches really are low. They weren't in this case. Also can't believe people are saying Calzaghe didn't land any clean punches! Look at the stats Calzaghe landed well over a hundred punches more than Hopkins. One big punch from Hopkins doesn't hide the fact that he was comprehensively beaten.

  6. It was a low blow.  Period.  He gets five minutes, and he really only took about two.  He's a warrior, but he's spent up, now.  I wouldn't have faulted him if he had used all five minutes.  Joe was on his way towards a huge win.  He didn't need to hit him low. . .and honestly, it wasn't a "one-time" accident, either.  Didn't Joe hit him low twice?

Still a FANTASTIC win for Joe, and very deserved.  Both are first-ballot HOF'ers. . . .and both have legends that are safe.  I just wish Bernard hadn't made the brainless comments before the fight.

  7. Calzaghe hit him in the nutts.  Joe Cortez should have deducted.  Period.
