  1. Well I think most of us tend to build our own.

Here's a link to a site that gives you instructions on how to build the wings.

For rails you can visit a timber yard or farm store.

Barrels etc are quite easy to get from farms - they tend to get too many of them.

Jump cups are available from Robinsons

Look for cheap wood at the demolition/recycling yard - most areas have one - it's where they sell loads of second hand building materials.

And paint from the local DIY shop ( or if you advertise locally you'll probably find that loads of people have half-full tins lying around waiting for a job)

You could also visit farm sales in your area - you never know what will turn up at them.

    Good luck and have fun.

Edit - I second that with the cones, pipes ( the green stuff is great) tyres and road-closed things, also milk crates, bales and pallets - last year we made an evil tiger trap with pallets !

And don't forget about the possibilities of old garden furniture !

  2. You could make SMALL jumps with bales of hay, or build you own. If you use something more solid, like tires of barrels, keep the jumps low. You could also see if the person you're leasing from has anything you could use.

  3. Bales of hay or straw make good jumps, along with tyres, workmens cones and barriers(i kno its naughty but if you just see some lying around lol),

we bought some long lenghts of plastic pipes and put them on bales of hay to use as jumps and it worked a treat, along with jumping logs and stuff when out hacking.

  4. As other people have mentioned, You could try making some, or why not put a few adds in tack shops etc, saying that you are looking for second hand jumps. People are often buying new jump sets, so maybe you could get a job lot.(it would certainly save on their disposal) They probably would be happy to deliver.

  5. Is there somewhere local to you like an equestrian centre or riding school that you can take the horse to ?

  6. Bales of hay, buckets, cones, barrels, blanks of wood (instead of poles), barrels, logs, sticks (piled up), pieces of wood), ply wood etc.

Pretty much just anything you can find lying down you can use.

  7. we use buckets and barels and pvc pipe when we're traveling it's easy and cheap. and won't hurt your horse.
