HOV Lanes?

For CA people, please explain to me why HOV lanes are seen as more efficient/what their purpose is. thanks!

  1. More people in a car = more efficient.  If four people car pool to work, three cars are not on the road.  HOV = high occupancy vehicles.  Being able to use the HOV lane is incentive for people to carpool.


  2. more people in 1 car means less people in many cars.
