HOW CAN I TELL IF MY BOYFRIEND IS JOKING OR THAT'S THE WAY HE REALLY FEEL?

My boyfriend of ten years keep bringing up comments like

lets get different place and come together and spend together

or i didn't plan for my life to be like this or i didn't have a chance to enjoy being young or he didn't plan to have a family now

when i say something about it he will say i didn't mean it i was just joking.

the thing is i don't think that he is joking i think

And you believe him when he says he's joking?  If he truly thinks that's 'joking' then he doesn’t know the definition of 'joke'.

My personal opinion--I think he really does regret not having the chance to 'enjoy being young' and he’s wants the freedom to do that.

He’s probably using the excuse of “I was joking” because (1) he thinks he’s hurt you by saying this and he doesn’t want to hurt you’ OR (2) while he wants the freedom, he’s scared—he’s afraid that in the end he might realize that you are what he really wants but by the time he realizes that, you’ll have moved on.

If you were his first or second girlfriend.. then he's gonna eventually want to experience the things he didn;t when he was younger... sometimes it takes years... but eventually someone will make him want to.  almost sounds like he might have an interest in someone else already.

i am not saying your boyfriend is bad or do not love or sth

he is probably just the kind of guy that need spaces and hates to be bounded by marriage . if you love him and you need to give him some space . at the same time you can just love yourself .when he see that you can give the space he needs even after marriage he may love you more .

i think you just need to be independent and do not rely everything on him .so you 2  can enjoy a much more hearted relationship
