ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani lawmaker defended a decision by southwestern tribesmen to bury five women alive because they wanted to choose their own husbands, telling stunned members of parliament this week to spare him their outrage.

"These are centuries-old traditions and I will continue to defend them," Israr Ullah Zehri, who represents Baluchistan province, said on Saturday. "Only those who indulge in immoral acts should be afraid."

The women, three of them teenagers, were shot and then thrown into a ditch. They were still breathing as their bodies were covered with rocks and mud, according to reports, which said their only 'crime' was that they wished to marry men of their choosing.

First of All, those are ancient Tribal Laws and have nothing to do with Islam. The senator clearly has said these are 'Ancient Baloch Laws'.

Second: The Pakistani government lets those people get away with murder, since they want stability in that region, so the tribal laws are allowed to exist in those regions.

Three point: Burying anyone alive is Strictly forbidden in Islam, also forcing girls into marriage.

Forth: People in those regions are uneducated and follow the tribal leaders law.

Fifth: Pakistani Government has made a Law in 2003, that All adult Muslim women have the 'free-will' to choose whom ever they marry without the consent of a Guardian or Parents.

That's truly appalling. Proof of what happens when religion goes badly, badly wrong.

I was watching "Despatches" on Channel 4 last night and about how Wahabist Saudi muslims are teaching "British" muslims that it is "God's will" that adulterers be killed, homosexuals thrown from cliffs (and then stoned) and that no-believers - kaffar - are essentially scum. Nothing surprises me about religion any more.

May I just add that I'm equally appalled by some of the bigoted, hate-filled comments by some of the more intellectually challenged respondents here. You people are as bad as the Wahabists.

I am very disappointed about the comments of other members. But as for as women rights are concerned with Islam are very flexible.

1- Islam says that any girl who is 18 year old she can marry with the person whom she likes.

It does not matter what is your sect whether you are whabi,sunni,shia or what ever Islam is equal for every Muslim.

2-You cant beat your wife or any one with out any solid reason mean which is intolerable like wife is cheating behind  you but  the simple way  is to talk and if  you don’t want  to stay with her you both can have divorce.

3- Any type of  killing is strictly forbidden in Islam. Specially suicidal killing unless it is announced by the ruler to protect their sovereignty but with out that if you kill some one you kill whole nation, If some one needs Quran references just email me.

4-Islam gives choice to every one to choose right thing mean if you want to marry with some one go head for male and female.

5-What is Jahad.Its true meaning is when you flight for your freedom announced by the ruler to all Muslims that now its time to fight for the rights. I said announced by the ruler mean President Karzai  is  the ruler of Afghanistan.Has he announced for the Jehad ?  No. or in Iraq Jalaluddin Talabani has announced   for Jehad no?

If Iraqi people are killing each other its not Jehad.Killing of any innocent person does not matter what’s his religion is a killing of your own brother. Islam Gives the lesson of brotherhood but  if some one kills other human he have  to pay for his deeds its not a practice of  Islam in fact its against the sayings of Allah.

1- Such kind of things are happening all over the world   not only in Pakistan for example in India ,Bangladesh ,Africa and even in western countries but  in rarity. The incident happened  in   that  area which is called Tribal area and  Government official has a very limited access  to  that area like Wana ,WAZIRISTAN,and different areas near Afghan border or Iranian border  same  like in African countries or Latin American countries or in India. Because tribal people rule there and they have different traditions which has no concerned with Islam because tradition is not religion but religion guides  you towards right path now its up  to you whether you  dislike it or adopt it.

They are not practicing Islam although they are Muslims,so its not Islam's fault. Problem is with those people who are killing innocent people for there own benefit  not for the sake of Islam ,Islam does not allow  that  no way.

1- Who believes on 1 God.

2-Prophet Muhammad is the last prophet  of Allah no 1 after him.

3-Practice Islam, Offer 5 times prayer, Speak truth, Honest and loving to every one, Respect other's beliefs, religion  and don’t kill any innocent person at any cost.

So, tell me honestly is  that the act  of   a true Muslim who is killing these women or those who are killing innocent people by suicidal attacks?

Definitely not these are brain washed people who are   doing  that for the benefits of other's may be political purposes or  for money not sure.

But some thing is not right.

Last but not least, its very easy  to exaggerate things like  that  and to criticise on  them but hard to find the solution, what’s the cause of all these thing and why they happening in all over  the world not in a specified area.

It is a shame that women can still be treated as second class citizens by most religions. I do not know what to say with regards to this tragedy. Women are equals and as soon as these backwater religions understand, there can be no peace with the atrocities they commit.
