HOW DO AMERICANS ACCENT SOUND TO BRITISH?

Well i know that british accents come off as intellectual and very s**y but how do americans come off with their accents do we sound dim-whited or what i would really like to know thanks :>

When listening to Americans on TV, talking to other Americans, i really don't notice the accent. I remember when i was a very small kid i didn't realize they sounded any different to me (being English). But i've found when i'm not expecting someone to have an American accent and it turns out they do it's usually an unpleasent suprise, (sorry)just sounds a bit whiney to me, slightly grating. Saying that in some films i've seen they've been some American's with really cool voices and i've come out trying to immitate them, so it's probably a regional thing.
