  1. To build a simple power supply,you need these basic items:

    Electronice parts:  one transformer, 4 rectifiers,one capacitor.

    Material: wire, case, switch,connector.

    Circuit: a full wave unregulated filted DC output power supply.

    Those are quite complicated. You can buy one for about the same as the cost of parts.

    They have 3 main parts. A sealed lead acid battery, a battery charger, and an inverter to convert the 12 volts from the battery to 120 or 240 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz.

    If you really want to build one, you can get schematics online.

    Decide the following:

    battery size, how long does the battery have to run before discharging.

    Battery charger: you want a smart type that adjusts the charging rate and shuts off to a trickle charge automatically. Decide on charge time.

    Inverter: amount of power, voltage, frequency, and waveshape (square wave, psuedo sine wave, pure sine wave)
